December Refugee Newsbite
Warm Advent greetings! For many, it has been a dark year. As we experience Advent together this year, let us remember that Jesus is the light that shines in the darkness and Jesus is overcoming the darkness in His name and through his people. Have you been thinking about bringing a bit more justice into your Christmas gifts this year? If so, you will not want to miss out on Just Crates. A Just Crate is a Christmas crate filled with ethically sourced, carefully curated, and lovingly created handmade / fair trade products made and assembled with our refugee community. PS - As we move towards 2022, we will merge Refugee News with Global News, sending you 2 editions of Global News each month. Global News will always include updates from our refugee community, so you will be kept in even closer communication with what is happening with our newcomer friends. Thank you for standing with us as we welcome new friends into our Tenth community. May our lights shine this Advent! Patrick Elaschuk Pastor of International Missions For more infomation visit:

The Light Shines in the DarknessAdvent Conspiracy Devo In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:1-5 Right here John sums up the season of Advent. Even amidst the great deal of darkness in this world, the light of Jesus Christ shines bright. He who experienced all of the darkness, even death itself, and was not overcome now dwells in us as God’s Spirit. Consider today how the light of Christ may shine into the darkness around you. Are there times in your life where you’ve accepted the darkness in which you may be called to carry the light of Christ? How might practicing the four tenets of Advent Conspiracy bring about light into our dark world? Four Tenants:
Prayer: Jesus, you are the light of the world. During this Advent season, may we not ignore or fear darkness, but help us see the same light that came into the world 2,000 years ago still shines in us today. When we grow weary, strengthen our hearts. When we feel despair, encourage us through community and your words, And where there is darkness, lead us to be light. Amen. First ThingFive Prayer Items The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so that we can be quietly about our business of living simply in humble contemplation. This is the way our Saviour God wants us to live. 1 Timothy 1:1-3 Here are 5 items for your prayer consideration:
