A Cambodian proverb informs us that it takes a spider to repair its own web.

The spider has the proximity, resources, and personal interest in mending its web that has been broken or injured.  Many are familiar with the impact that years of war, violence, and exploitation have had on Cambodia.

As a church, we have carefully discerned 10 partners and friends that are all passionate about repairing their own webs through capable national leaders. An important part of our strategy is to bring small groups of learners to Cambodia that are willing to share their hearts, their stories, and their experiences.  The main goals are to help Cambodians repair their own webs and for the Kingdom of God to take root in the Kingdom of Cambodia.

Every group is unique and is chosen to match the invitations and need of our partners with the friendship and experiences of Tenth folks.  The summer 2019 Cambodia Justice Journey was a team of young people from Creo – Tenth Church’s youth and young adult ministry.

Because everyone on the team had been personally impacted by camping ministry, everyone was well suited to share their hearts, stories and experiences with Cambodians at camps in Kep and Siem Reap.

As I reflect on this Creo Cambodia Justice Journey, I can see how Jesus, in His infinite wisdom and timing, raised up and sent such a team from Tenth for such a time as this - for the strengthening of our partners. At the same time, we all learned much about ourselves (the good, the bad, and the ugly), and about depending on each other while experiencing the beautiful and infinite character of God. With my own eyes, I can see how Tenth has been helping Cambodians repair their own webs, while in the process we are fixing our own webs as well.

As you read through these stories (if you have not read them yet), I encourage you to listen to the whisper of God’s Spirit for traces of His Kingdom, for His Kingdom isn't about eating and drinking. It is about pleasing God, about living in peace, and about true happiness. All this comes from the Holy Spirit.  Romans 14:17

I am super proud of each member of this team! Thank you Creo team for walking with God and alongside others! And thank you Charlotte for curating these blogs!

You can experience some of these stories on October 5th at Taste of Cambodia.

The next Cambodia Justice Journey will focus on Spiritual Retreats for Christian leaders and those that work on the front lines of sexual exploitation.

Thank you for your support and stewardship of Tenth's Cambodia relationships.
