The Importance of ConnectionDear Tenth family, As the days are getting shorter and the temperatures are quickly dropping, we are spending more and more time inside. Many students are buried in midterms without much relief. For those who work 9-5, it is already dark outside after work. Amidst our busy lives, it can be incredibly tempting, to just put our heads down and focus on the work in front of us. Especially with the unprecedented circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic, the potential for isolation is more present than ever. This is not how our Creator designed us to live, though! We were designed for connection, for rest, for finding joy in the present moment and for generously sharing what we have been given with our neighbours. I hope this newsletter encourages you to take a step back from the mid-autumn hustle, and reflect on how you can find connection and be more engaged with your community – locally and globally. I’m excited to bring to your attention a number of different opportunities for involvement with the work of Tenth Global in the coming weeks. We are so grateful for you and your support! Without you - the Tenth Global community members - we simply would not be able to do the work that we do. In this newsletter, you will find out about some film screenings and prayer times, which are such wonderful ways to be engaged with the work of global justice. I hope that this newsletter leaves you feeling encouraged and inspired! With God, for others, Holly |
First ThingFive Prayer Items The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so that we can be quietly about our business of living simply in humble contemplation. This is the way our Saviour God wants us to live. 1 Timothy 1:1-3 Here are 5 items for your prayer consideration (plus one): For more infomation visit:

Cambodia Catch-up and PraySunday, October 25, 2020 Catch-up and pray with Cambodia! Tonight from 7:30-8:30pm we are gathering on Zoom to pray with our partners in Cambodia. Cambodia is experiencing devastating storms and flash floods, and our community is concerned for the safety of Cambodians. Natural disasters expose and exacerbate issues of injustice that are already present, and contribute to even more suffering. Our hearts are with those in Cambodia who are affected by this flooding, and we are spending some intentional time in prayer this evening, with and for our friends in Cambodia who are impacted by this crisis. If you've been on a Justice Journey to Cambodia before, or if you're interested in finding out about how God is moving there, and you want to stand with Cambodia through this storm, join us for this time of prayer! We hope to see you there. Zoom link will be emailed to you after registration. For more infomation visit: http://tenth.ca/events/cambodia-catch-up-and-pray/2020-10-25

Just 58 - Raw Hope AfghanistanWatch a short film and talk justice in just 58 minutes - October 27 at 7:15pm Afghanistan is a primarily agricultural country in Central Asia, producing some of the world's best pomegranates, grapes, and sweet melons. The country has been in an ongoing conflict with the Taliban, a radical political group that has waged all-out war against the government and taken control of many parts of the country. Tenth Church is supporting the work of World Vision Afghanistan through Senior Pastor Ken Shigematsu’s Book Fund and support from the Tenth Community... You can be part of this support too, by participating in JUST 58 on October 27! We would love for you to be part of this conversation. For more infomation visit:

A Mi'kmaq Prayer
Mi'kmaq are Indigenous peoples who are among the original inhabitants in the Atlantic Provinces of Canada, and they have been threatened, physically attacked, their fishing boats have been damaged, and lobster pounds have been destroyed - all for exercising their right to catch lobster on their own traditional territory. This is clearly not in line with the tenets of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and racism is so evident in this dispute. It is crucial for us to pay attention to this as a church that strives to place social justice at the forefront of all that we do. We have a responsibility to engage with a variety of perspectives that might be different from ours, and to do our best to stay informed about issues of injustice occurring globally and within the boundaries of our own country. Staying informed about issues such as this can be incredibly overwhelming - there is a lot of injustice in the world. I encourage you to read this prayer, written and translated by Mi'kmaq author Helen Sylliboy. Allow the words to wash over you, encourage and inspire you, and connect you to something greater than yourself... For more infomation visit:

An Update From Manna4LifeWhat's happening with our friends in Cambodia this month? This past week, young students in Oudong village were finally able to hop aboard their tuk tuk school bus and head to Glory School to return to their studies after many months away. All summer, they have been doing schoolwork at home, and some of them have been selling snacks around the village to help support their families. Kevin and Leakhena Knight invite us to pray with them for the students attending Glory School – that there would be adequate financial resources to support the education of every child connected to Manna4Life.... One Can Give Without LovingBut One Cannot Love Without Giving Exodus 35:4-5 says “Moses said to all the congregation of the people of Israel, ‘This is the thing that the Lord has commanded. Take from among you a contribution to the Lord. Whoever is of a generous heart, let him bring the Lord’s contribution …’” In this time of great uncertainty for our partners in Cambodia and Mexico. We can offer our generosity to support the work that they are doing amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Here are two ways you can help: 1. Pray - Click here to find specific requests for prayer in this season. Everything that Tenth Global does to support partners in Cambodia and Mexico, missionaries across the globe, and refugees here in Vancouver is supported by these three funds, and they do not receive money from Tenth's General Fund (offering). 100% of your donations to these funds go to local and global ministry, and the work of Tenth Global is made possible by you and your generosity. Thank you for your continued support! For more infomation visit:
