The Power of Discipleship

The Alongsiders discipleship movement has been growing in Cambodia since 2003, from a faithful group of ten mentors to thousands of young Christian mentors. This year, Alongsiders has expanded its reach to support youth and children in Europe, where 26% of children are vulnerable. Mart-Jan & Talitha van der Maas saw a need, along with the simplicity and authenticity of the Alongsiders model, and decided to steward this movement of mentors in Europe. “Throughout history, young people have been at the forefront of every movement for change, and this is why Alongsiders believes in the power of one on one relationships. For Alongsiders International, the answer to transforming a nation is through mentoring the next generation. Each alongsider walks with and encourages a little brother or sister in their own community, showing them the unconditional love of Jesus.

The dream of Alongsiders Europe, and of Tenth Global as we partner in this mission of discipleship, is of a “church that actively reaches out to the world around it… Young people who take Jesus’ mission seriously and are committed to it ... A generation that reaches out to the next …. so that no child is alone, but each child has an Alongsider.”
