Is it just and right that children do not get enough nourishment for their brains and bodies to properly develop? Is it just and right that young women are forced to leave their families to work as slaves? Is it just and right that skyrocketing housing prices are forcing people to move to unsafe or distant places? What is justice? What is poverty?

There are times that I am so caught up in my own world and quest to survive that I sometimes forget to ask these basic questions.

"We need the poor more than the poor need us," echo the words of David Collins, founder of Food for the Hungry Canada. When we build relationships with those in greater material need than us, profound things happen, our worldview begins to shift. We begin to recognize the flaws in our own selfish nature. We begin to follow Jesus' example into a life of radical generosity.

We are focusing on poverty awareness for the month of March. In this update, you will find information about how to end poverty together, updates from our missionary partners in Sierra Leone and Cambodia, and information about upcoming events which highlight poverty awareness.   

Learn to do right; seek justice.  Defend the oppressed.  Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.  Isaiah 1:17
