What in the world?

Dear friend,

What in the world is going on?  

So much has happened in the past couple weeks in the global mission department, I could write a book.  But to spare you that pain of that, here are a few brief updates and ways to engage with our global partnerships during this unsettling time.  

UPDATES:

1. Spring Break 2020 Mexico Justice Journey canceled.  2021 Mexico Spring Break Justice Journey will be March 15-23 and there may be a Christmas Mexico Journey, pending coronavirus update. Stay tuned for Cambodia, Chinatown, and Vancouver Refugee Justice Journey updates.  
2. Israel / Jordan Journey canceled and rescheduled for June 19 - 29, 2021.
3. Refugee month:  We are still planning (by faith) to showcase refugees in June, but it will take on a different shape.  Borders to Beginnings will be rescheduled for the fall and we will watch a refugee film online on June 13.  Training for refugees on June 20 is tentative. 
4. Two new asylum seekers.  Two weeks ago, we welcomed 2 refugees from Afghanistan.  It is not an easy time to settle in Canada as many services have been shut down.  Both just finished their quarantine and are proceeding with settlement.  

GET ENGAGED: 

There a few ways for you to get engaged with supporting our 30 global workers and 20 global partnerships during this time. 

1. Prayer: You can join us in some of our zoom (online video meeting platform) prayer meetings. Email Wanda at wanda@tenth.ca to join our global prayer team.  
2. Refugees: We continue to walk alongside our newcomer friends with social distancing.  Our team will be sharing needs and opportunities as the days go on.    
3. Movie Event:  We are going to try out watching a Cambodia video online together in a group followed by discussion.  Date: Friday August 24 at 7pm. Email Zak at zakaryjk@gmail.com for the link.    
4. Donate:  Our partners need our financial support more than ever.  As you may know, the Mission Fund, the Cambodia Fund, and the Refugee Fund only receive money when people specifically donate to one of these funds online or designate with the tithing envelope. These funds receive no support from tithes or the general fund.  Choose either Missions Fund, Cambodia Fund, or Refugee Fund.  God bless you as you give!  DONATE HERE.
