This month the babies and toddlers have been learning about “We See God’s Love at Church”, while the preschool and kindergarteners have been learning about Adam and Eve and “The First Sin”. Take a look at how you can reinforce what they’re learning in your own homes:

SEPTEMBER 2016

Babies and Toddlers (6 months-2 Years Old) We have been continuing on with teaching our kids: I See God’s Love at Church. We want to reinforce the idea that church is a safe place they can come to. Here’s what you can do:

  • TALK about how everyone’s welcome in God’s family and how we all have a special role in God’s family.
  • SINGHe’s Got the Whole World in His Hands” to or with them to remind them that God always takes care of us.
  • PLAY with dolls or cars, and cut out or draw a picture of a church and pretend that they are going to church.

Preschool (3-5 Years Old) This month we continue to learn about “The First Sin”. We’re learning about good and bad choice. A few Sundays ago, we did a science experiment to demonstrate how sin can look ugly inside of us, but Jesus comes and defeats sin and whenever we look to him, he helps take our sins away. We are in the Creation story right now on the Bible Timeline. Here are some things you can do or talk about to help reinforce our lessons:

  • ASK them this question: “How do you make the right choice?” (“I ask God!”)
  • DISCUSS about how we can all make good choices and be more like Jesus.
  • PRAY with them and talk about bad choices you’ve both made and lift them up to God.

Next month, we will be talking about how “Jesus Loved the Little Children” with the babies and toddlers, and how Jesus is their friends and how we can always come to Jesus whenever and wherever.

The preschool and kindergarteners will be learning about Abraham and Isaac, and how Abraham trusted God to the point that he was willing to sacrifice his son. Abraham’s story shows how hard it can sometimes be to trust God, but God loves and protects His children, including Isaac. God sacrificed His only son, Jesus, so that we can live forever with Him in heaven.
