As we celebrate Pentecost, which marks the birth of the Christian Church, the book of Acts reminds us of the kind of community and fellowship that is truly possible empowered by the Holy Spirit—a community marked by mutuality, hospitality, and generosity:

Acts 2: 42-47

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."

Refugee Support is preparing to help move three newcomer families into permanent housing by the end of June. Forced to flee for their lives and begin a journey of the unknown, each family found friendship, housing, and a community of hope at Tenth Church. After settling into life in Canada in one of Tenth's temporary homes, the families are getting ready to move into a home of their own, and we're excited to celebrate this milestone with them! As we celebrate the strength and resiliency of these families, would you join in the celebration by donating some household items?

We are extremely limited on space, so we kindly ask that donations are in good condition and are something from this list only:

  • Microwave
  • Large-sized pots (2 handles, with lid)
  • Medium-sized pots (1 handle, with or without lid), non-stick and otherwise
  • Non-stick frying pans
  • Electric kettle
  • Vacuumn cleaners
  • Coat hangers (lots!)

How Can I Donate?

  1. Take a picture of your donation item, and email it to refugeesupport@tenth.ca with the subject "Donation: Household Item."
  2. Wait to hear back with an enthusiastic, "Yes, please!" (important!), because we may have already received enough of a certain item.
  3. After receiving confirmation, make arrangements to drop off your donation after Sunday service at your site or during the week (Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm) at the Mt Pleasant Site, located at 11 W 10th Ave.

Leviticus 19:33-34

“When a foreigner lives with you in your land, don’t take advantage of him. Treat the foreigner the same as a native. Love him like one of your own. Remember that you were once foreigners in Egypt. I am God, your God."
