Rhythms Workshop: "Refugees - Invited In"

Our Rhythms workshops explore the outward movement of the church into the world. We hope to establish new rhythms in our lives that help us to go on a mission with God to our neighbours, colleagues, families, classmates, and even to the ends of the world. We invite you to come along for the journey.

Refugees: Invited In

In this participatory presentation, we will take a deeper dive into the world of refugees.
- Why do they flee?
- How do they arrive in Canada?
- How does/should the Church react?
- How can we respond?

Join us as we examine the direction given to one newly forming nation. The words of Jesus can help to guide us, “ . . . I was a stranger and you invited me in,” Matt 25:35 NIV.

Speaker: James Grunau
With a Bible College and Seminary education (CBC, CTS and Regent), James worked in two different church ministries before moving to Canada’s West Coast in the mid 1980s. Here he detoured into the business world where he spent 20 years in the home renovation business, serving as manager in various departments and finally as general manager of the company. Feeling his heart moving him in a different direction, he helped found Journey Home Community in 2005, an initiative of his church home group in its outreach to newly arriving asylum seeker families. He serves as Executive Director of Journey Home Community and is a member of the leadership team of the Refugee Highway Partnership, North American Region as well as the Global RHP leadership council.
