Many newly arriving families from Afghanistan continue to find their way to Mim and our Refugee Support team.  What is changing is the level of desperation for affordable, long-term housing in this city.

This is a burden we all share to some extent, but it is exacerbated when a family is attempting to navigate a new city with limited social networks, money, fluency in English, and other essential resources. Mim gets a call every 2nd day from a refugee family that is either on the street homeless or in a homeless shelter.  Neither are welcoming places for newly arriving families.

We have seen many generous people share rooms in their houses and others support the Refugee Fund while some reach out in friendship and settlement tasks.  Thank you!  Each act of sacrifice and love is making a difference, and each provision is a miracle and a story.

Special shout out to East Van Pastor Mike Bennett, his wife Kleanza, and their family as they recently hosted a new Afghan family in their home.
