Refugee Friendship Month in June At Tenth during the month of June we are celebrating refugee friendship month. Did you know that Tenth, in different ways, is supporting over 200 newcomers to Canada? Throughout the month we have two concrete calls to action: to give and to live in support of those who are new to Canada. 

This month we are seeking to raise $20,000 to send 50 refugee friends to camp at Thetis island this summer to experience time for play, friendship, and Christian community.  All extra funds raised will help newcomers settle in Canada and build community with Tenth.  

It's fitting that we are beginning refugee friendship month on Pentecost Sunday, the day when we celebrate the giving of the Holy Spirit who filled believers regardless of where they were from.  The Holy Spirit goes out to the nations.

June and July events:

  • June 5, 2pm - UBC Museum of Antropology with newcomers

  • June 19, 7:30pm - Film screening at Tenth:  Harem, Memories of Home

  • June 21, 6pm - Refugee Ministry Meet and Greet

  • June 26, 2pm - Summer Kick-off

  • July 3-8 - Newcomers Camp on Thetis Island
