Sobered, yet hopeful - is how I felt coming off a Just 58 Zoom meeting with our partner in Lebanon.  Sobered because Lebanon is experiencing extra-ordinary suffering as the county is in free fall in a multitude of sectors.  It is sobering to be on a call with a friend and partner whose country offers such little hope.  And yet, God's mission is still the mission even during covid, even in unemployment, even when kids are confined at home and hungry.  God's mission is to bring good news.  I am so proud of our partners. FEAL, in Lebanon, is doing God's mission of love and reconciliation in a most inhospitable atmosphere.

We are sending some funds to purchase basic food supplies to Lebanon in the first week of March. If you would like to donate, give to the refugee fund here.

In another Just 58, James Grunau (Journey Home Community Executive Director) unpacked a simple yet profound scripture that tells us to:

  1. Do no wrong to strangers/foreigners
  2. Treat strangers/foreigners as our own
  3. Love strangers/foreigners as ourselves

How to pray for Lebanon

  1. Pray for the people. Grieve and lament with them.
  2. Pray for food and resources.
  3. Pray for doctors, hospitals, and medical supplies.
  4. Pray for social stability and peace.
  5. Pray for the Christians and churches in Lebanon.

Leviticus 19:33-34

When a stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt; I am the Lord your God.
