This month, we join churches around the world in supporting World Refugee Sunday to remember this need and respond in practical ways. Today we will give you a taste of what Tenth is doing to stand with refugees.
Tenth’s strategy for refugee support is based on Leviticus 19:33-34.
When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.
It’s local: in Vancouver we welcome refugee asylum seekers. Did you know that Canada has settled the largest number of refugees in the world this last year? Currently, Tenth is walking alongside 7 refugee families and is connected to many others.
It’s global: with our long term partners in Lebanon, which has the highest percentage of its population seeking asylum—at least 1 in 4 people living in Lebanon are refugees.
We invite you to answer God’s call to love the stranger as yourself:
Pray for refugees around the world, Lebanon and in Canada
Give to our refugee fund so that we can continue to offer welcome for refugee families—anytime, and there will be a designated offering next Sunday
Share your time and experiences with refugees in our city
