This week we learned about Martha and Mary and what they did when Jesus came to visit their house. Sometimes we can be like Martha and get so distracted by all the things we have to do, but Jesus says that Mary made the better choice. When Jesus came to their house, Mary put God’s kingdom first and we can too!

BIG IDEA: Jesus is priority #1, so we should make time for Him first.

Read: Luke 10:38-42

Discuss: Why did Mary not help Martha? Is this story telling us we shouldn’t clean our houses or do work? In Luke 10:42, Jesus says that “really, only one thing is needed.” What do you think that thing is?

Apply: Are you more like Martha or Mary? What little things distract you in life? Where do you put all your time and energy? This week, how can you put God’s kingdom first?

Pray: Pray and ask God to help you put His kingdom first. Ask Him to help you not to worry about all the stuff in your life, but instead to focus on Jesus.
