Cook with Oasis Café

Do you have a passion for food and justice? Do you enjoy experimenting in the kitchen and coming up with nutritious and hearty meals?  Are you a parent that has learned to cook some family favourites and like the idea of getting your kid in the kitchen cooking with you?  Are you a leader, able to delegate, give direction, and oversee the preparation of a home-cooked meal for approximately 100 people? Then consider serving as a Head Cook at Oasis Cafe located at our Mt. Pleasant site!

Just a few minutes away from Vancouver's downtown eastside, Oasis Café at Tenth Church is a community meal that provides fresh, home-cooked food to guests, and work experience to those with barriers to employment.  We are currently welcoming experienced, enthusiastic, and dependable cooks to assist in preparing our weekly community meals at Oasis Café. Community Meal Head Cooks play an integral role in showcasing Oasis Café by partnering with us to serve delicious, nutritious, hearty meals to our guests (some who are homeless and many who are living in poverty), and to engage our employees (all who have barriers to employment) with kitchen and hospitality skills.

This is a great opportunity to love our neighbours through building friendships with people of mixed incomes and backgrounds, and enjoying good food while doing so!
