January 18-25th is set aside for the annual worldwide Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.  This year's theme and material are prepared by the Middle East Council of Churches in Beirut, Lebanon.

Jesus says, “Heavenly Father … my prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one … so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” Jn 17:21. This prayer of Jesus is the start point from which the essential aspect of a spiritual ecumenism is derived. Jesus does not ask for just any kind of unity, but the same unity exists between Him and the Father. The love exists within the Trinity brings the greatest freedom, joy and fulfillment.
