Pastoral TransitionGod is on the move in our Evening Service community I wanted to let you know that I have been in a period of discernment for the last number of months. Back in the spring, our Pastor of Spiritual Formation – Sean Wood, sensed God leading him to step out of his current role and into the Site Pastor position for our Tenth Mount Pleasant community. As that happened, the Pastor of Spiritual Formation position became vacant. Being an important role for our entire Tenth community, I wanted to see it filled with the right person. I sent off the posting to a number of close Pastor friends of mine asking them to ‘shake the trees’, and send anyone they thought would be a good fit to apply. Two responded immediately to me by saying, “Jay, I think that’s your job!”. This made me pause, and began a period of discernment. Was God asking me to step into the position? As you know, one of the greatest joys in my life has been serving as the Site Pastor for our Evening Service community over the last 6 years. When I look over my entire working career, this is by far the best thing that I have been a part of. In large part, my joy is a direct result of working with you. We have seen God move in such powerful and profound ways in our community, and in our own lives. As I have sought God’s leading over these months, I have powerfully sensed that He is calling me to accept the role of Pastor of Spiritual Formation for Tenth Church. This has not been an easy decision, but, I now know that it is the right thing to do, for me, and for the Evening Service community. Most likely, I won’t officially transition into the role until February 2019. I am so thankful for this community, and am very excited to see how God will grow us all in the coming years. With great gratitude, Pastor Jay |

Contemplative Prayer | AdventEvery Biblical Christmas character faced one of life's greatest obstacles: fear. Maybe it's our turn... A few times a year we gather as a Tenth community for a Contemplative Prayer Night. We desire to grow in our understanding of God, and how to better hear His voice in our lives. For this Advent Prayer Night, we will be asking and answering Jesus' question, "Why are you so afraid?", and will open our spirits to overcome fear and receive the greatest gift: love. This evening we will be led by Bronwyn Spilsbury - Bronwyn is a Pastoral host and Director of sacred events and journeys to Bible lands. She recently co-hosted Tenth's journey to Israel and Jordan with Pastor Ken Shigematsu and Darrell Johnson and leads several groups every year. Bronwyn is a writer and speaker and lover of prayer. She delights in creating space that opens hearts to the presence of the Powerful. For more infomation visit: http://tenth.ca/events/contemplative-prayer-advent/2018-11-29
