Fighting Trafficking and Defending DignityDear Tenth Family, This month, I am thrilled to share some stories with you about what Tenth and our global partners are doing around the world to fight human trafficking. As you read this edition of Global News, you will be encouraged by an update from Zak, a missionary serving Cambodia who Tenth is partnered with. You'll learn about the devastation of human trafficking in our world, which is much more prevalent than we often may think. You'll also hear about how we can still have hope amidst this darkness, as followers of Jesus worldwide come to the defense of human dignity. In this newsletter, there is also an invitation to participate in a film screening and discussion of justice on August 13! Through these stories and prayer requests, may you be uplifted and inspired to fight for justice in your local and global community. With God, for others, Holly |

You're Invited!Let's watch a short film and talk justice in just 58 minutes - Thursday, August 13, 2020 Over the summer we are excited to gather on Zoom with friends in Cambodia to share some short films about justice. On July 16 we saw and learned about the beauty of Cambodia in the years before 1973. We had such a rich discussion and heard stories about time directly from Makara, a friend of Tenth's in Cambodia. On August 13 we will be continuing this conversation with a film and discussion of Cambodia during the time of the killing fields. If you missed the last JUST58 event, don't worry! Each film and discussion is a standalone event, and we'd love to see you at the next one. For more infomation visit:

Defending DignityFinding Hope in the Fight Against Trafficking July 30 is the United Nations World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, and we are using this opportunity to learn about the forms of trafficking worldwide, and in Canada. Human trafficking is one of the fastest-growing industries in Canada, particularly in the form of sex trafficking. This devastating industry exploits marginalized communities, especially Indigenous women, at a horrific rate. Indigenous people make up only 4.9% of our country’s population but 51% of trafficking victims are Indigenous. During the COVID-19 pandemic, sexual exploitation and the purchasing of people has not stopped by any means. It has merely moved online and even further into the shadows, as exploitation through social media and pornography becomes more prevalent. Despite how hopeless things seem, we can still find hope through prayer and worship, and by learning about the anti-trafficking work being done by organizations around the globe. One Can Give Without LovingBut One Cannot Love Without Giving Exodus 35:4-5 says “Moses said to all the congregation of the people of Israel, ‘This is the thing that the Lord has commanded. Take from among you a contribution to the Lord. Whoever is of a generous heart, let him bring the Lord’s contribution …’” In this time of uncertainty for our partners in Cambodia and Mexico, we can offer our generosity to support the work that they are doing amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Here are two ways you can help: 1. Pray - Click here to find specific requests for prayer in this season. Everything that Tenth Global does to support partners in Cambodia and Mexico, missionaries across the globe, and refugees here in Vancouver is supported by these three funds, and they do not receive money from the General Fund (offering) at Tenth. 100% of your donations to funds go to local and global work, and the work of Tenth Global is made possible by you and your generosity. Thank you for your continued support! |
