Camp has a way of developing enduring and meaningful friendships.  Many newcomers in our community have experienced belonging while exploring new activities at Pioneer Camp Pacific on Thetis Island over the past few years.  With our growing community of newcomers, Pioneer Camp created a special week just for our newcomers and volunteers from July 3-8.

The main purpose of our Tenth's refugee ministry is building genuine and enduring relationships with our refugee claimant neighbours.  Camp is a key way we can achive this purpose.

Over the month of June, we have been inviting the Tenth community to give and to live.  GIVE - money to help 50 refugees go to newcomer camp and LIVE - a life that welcomes newcomers, strangers - even refugees.

The great news is that we have achieved our goal of raising $20,000, so all our newcomers will be going to camp!  Words cannot express our gratitude for everyone's generosity.  Thank you, thank you, thank you, and may good come to you!

We have also created many new ways for our Tenth community to extend hands of friendship to newcomers.  Fill out this simple form to see if there is a way for you to be more engaged with newcomers.

So far, $28,511 has come in over and above our regular monthly income to the refugee fund.  The extra $8,511 and any additional income raised in June will help towards covering settlement costs.  Specifically, we will now be able to hire a settlement worker that will support our volunteer team in taking care of ongoing settlement tasks including paperwork, integration to Canadian life and culture, ensuring food security and connecting to education and health care.

Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice.  Psalm 112:5
