In the name of Jesus, there is power! This week we continued to learn that Jesus performed miracles to reveal who He is and what life with him is meant to look like. We read from Mark 5:1-20, Jesus Drives Out Evil Spirits. Before the story we did an exercise to have the children think about who God is by writing down one word on a post-it note and placing it on our “Who is God” poster. We had a lot of great names and descriptions like, God is love, protector, perfection, peace, hope, defender and many more. We told the story using creative story slides with LEGO figures, (see link below). When we work toward God's goals, the name of Jesus Christ is POWERFUL. The Bible says, "God works for the good of those who love him." (Romans 8:28)

Big Idea: Jesus performed miracles to reveal who he is and what life with him is meant to look like.

Bible Verse: You are all around me, behind me, in front of me and you hold me safe in your hands. Psalm 139:5 NIrV

At Home

Read: Open up your Bibles to Mark chapter 5 verses 1-20. Encourage your child to find the book of Mark by looking to the Table of Contents Page. You can also find the LEGO’s Bible story here.

Discuss: Did they know who Jesus was?  Why were the demons scared of Jesus? (Because they knew He was the son of the Most High God, and that there is power to cast them away in the name of Jesus).

Apply: Think about some ways that you can apply to the power of Jesus’ name to your life. When you pray, remember that when we pray in the name of Jesus, there is great power! Power to help us overcome hard circumstances, feelings of anxiety or loneliness, power to even change our bad dreams!

Pray: Think about an area in your lives that you could invite Jesus into and pray over in the power of Jesus name. Thank Him for His promise to always love you and that we are safe in his hands. Ask Him to help you understand more and more about this means and how we can experience the power of Jesus’ name in our own lives.
