Who are your kids' role models? What do they esteem most highly?

“It’s only as we understand God rightly that we ourselves are transformed into his likeness… God has so made us that we instinctively, naturally seek to become like whatever it is we esteem most highly. So if we love and prize and cherish God, then God has made us in such a way that it's exactly what we want to become like. We become like what we love.

“So, love the Lord your God. Know him rightly and love him with all your heart and then we will take on the characteristics of who he is. It’s so important for the next generation to understand the holiness of God, and through that the fuller spectrum of his attributes; the qualities that are true of him. And in seeing those things – seeing them as they are: glorious, wonderful, awesome, beautiful, radiant – qualities that we are attracted to and through, that we want to become as he is: ‘Be holy as I am holy’ says the Lord. And this is how it happens – by God’s grace.” (Bruce A. Ware)

Our October memory verse is:

"You have been made holy because you belong to Christ Jesus. God has chosen you to be his holy people." 1 Corinthians 1:2

We want to partner with you this year to see a new generation of lifelong followers of Jesus! Here's what you can do at home this month:

  1. If you haven't done so already, pick up a beautiful new Family Devotional Calendar available at your site on Sundays, and follow along!
  2. Learn our ASL memory verse with Pastor Dan Matheson
  3. Sing our September memory verse together: 1 Corinthians 1:2 (download and sing it at home, in your car, or as you play!)
