Ava helps on Sundays as a teacher for our preschoolers. Hear how she's learning as much as the kids!

Andrew: What do you enjoy most about serving?

Ava: I enjoy being in a community where the goal is to serve the most littlest and vulnerable through God. God uses each and every one of us to reach out to the children and brings us all together for this purpose. Everyone is super nice and when you see progress with the children and their growth in learning about God, it's definitely worth all the snot and tears that occasionally accompany the kids.

Andrew: Where have you seen God work as you serve?

Ava: I see God's work every time I serve, especially when the children learn about various Bible stories. They're able to slowly understand that God's love for them is everlasting and real. Through other teachers and helpers, I'm able to see their patience with the children and that allows me to realize God's patience with us throughout our lives.

Andrew: How have you grown through serving?

Ava: To be honest, going through the lesson plans for the children reminds me of how simple the Bible can be. Or, I should say–of how simple the resulting lessons in each passage are. Oftentimes we dig into the Word of God to try and dissect the themes or words or sentences. Sometimes it can be simple; in the end, it just reminds me that God loves everyone.

When our lives are joined to Jesus, we find that we also are enlisted in His mission to share God’s love with those around us.  One of the best ways of discovering your gifts and finding community is by serving.  Could God be inviting you to take that step?  Check out the opportunities to volunteer on our Volunteer Directory.

Not sure where you can help? Let us know about your interest. Or, I’d love to chat with you about finding a place for you to serve.

Don’t just go to church.  Be the church.
