The Kits Cares Cafe is a weekly cafe-style community meal at the Kitsilano Neighbourhood House, jointly hosted by nearby churches, to address hunger & social isolation in the spirit of Christ.

Kits Cares Cafe's Response to COVID-19

  • While prioritizing the safety of our volunteer team, providing food & support for vulnerable individuals is an essential service.
  • As of March 19, we switched to take-out food for our vulnerable guests (Kits House is currently closed).
  • We are actively monitoring recommendations from the BCCDC, City of Vancouver, Vancouver Coastal Health & others, including these Recommendations for Food Programs.

Mona McAllister, the Tenth liaison for Kits Cares Cafe, reports that although guests can no longer gather in our beautiful dining room, our temporary street side ‘stand-in-line’ model continues to make a vital contribution to the community. Kits Cares has now regained access to the Neighbourhood House kitchen and will be serving cooked take-out meals as of April 16th. The number of on-site volunteers will continue to be limited due to safety concerns.

This ministry requires our support in prayer. Please do pray for the safety of our guests and volunteers and for wisdom for our leadership team as they continue to adapt to ever-changing situations. If you have any questions, please email Mona or Dan
