Through my life group, God has reinforced the theme that no man is an island, that we were designed to live in community, share life together, and more importantly to live interdependently, not independently of each other.

When I step back, I’m amazed at how much we’ve come together in such a short period of time. We started off as a bunch of strangers partaking in a weekly inductive bible study.  As we’ve learned to open up, trust each other, and hear each other’s stories, we’ve become more vulnerable, and better friends and cheerleaders for one another!

Don’t get me wrong, there are sometimes long silences in our conversations and some delegating, but overall, God has used His Word, our similar food preferences and our mutual desire to be healthier and more fit to bring us to a deeper level of inclusivity and shared life together.

For instance, in the summer, we would meet in the park (pre-covid) to study God’s word, play spike-ball, and eat dinner socially distanced.  Nowadays, we meet over Zoom, play online board games, and once in awhile share UberEats discount codes over Whatsapp.  We even did Secret Santa Uber Eats, that was a pretty slick idea!

However, the women are the real stars of the show. They’ve taken the initiative to start an accountability group outside of our regular Thursdays and now the men are slowly following suit.

God is good and I’m excited to see what God has in store for us for 2021!
