An introduction to the overall narrative arc of the Old Testament, its themes, and the story of God’s people, along with how it shapes our life with God.

For many, the Bible comes across as an important but sometimes complicated text. We know it is important and we should be reading it but are often not sure what it is trying to say. This course helps participants develop biblical literacy and a better understanding of God’s story in the Bible, starting with the Old Testament.

Comprising about two-thirds of the Bible, the Old Testament is a diverse tapestry of texts that unites to point toward Jesus (cf. Luke 24:27). This course is an introduction to the overall narrative arc of the Old Testament, its themes, and the story of God’s people, along with how it shapes our life with God—and for others.

This course runs on Tuesdays, September 22 – November 24, 2020 and will be online via Zoom. Participants will be sent the Zoom link before the course begins. There is no required textbook in this course as our reading will be primarily from the Old Testament. However, How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth and/or How to Read the Bible Book by Book are recommended texts. Both are available online for purchase.
