Concerned about screen time for your kids or your teenagers??

Or just want a better grip on what to expect in the digital age?

Join us as award-winning educator and writer Ross Laird walks through growing up with technology—and its impact on childhood development, family life, community, and education.

Ross Laird is a highly-seasoned facilitator, presenter, and clinical supervisor with a focus on professional development, mental health, and education.

Gaming, social media, texting, and other digital tools are everywhere nowadays. While digital tools can be aids to children's development, issues such as anxiety, depression, isolation, anger, and addiction are also increasingly finding expression in— and sometimes are facilitated by—online communities.

Parents, educators, counsellors, and all those who work with children must be able to respond to this groundswell of change with new skills and strategies.

This free workshop provides a summary of those skills and strategies along with a suite of simple, practical tools that can assist adults in navigating – and helping kids navigate – the complexities of the digital landscape.

Childcare (age 2–grade 5) will be available on-site for $10/child up to a maximum of $25. Please be sure to save your spot and register. (Subsidies available—contact kristen.ansley@tenth.ca). For kids we will have movies, popcorn, games and crafts ready to go, so be sure to have them wear their pajamas and bring their stuffies. (And if your older kids are in CREO students ministry, CREO will be at chapel that evening from 6:45- 9:30 at Tupper High school. Contact catlin@tenth.ca for more about CREO.)
