Is hospitality a one-way exchange, or can it be mutual? How can we incorporate hospitality as a practice of building peace and justice in our communities?
These are thought-provoking questions and important ones to consider as we tend to see hospitality as a practice given, not received.
On Saturday, July 31, explore themes of hospitality, community, and creation care. This event will be hosted live and in-person at A Rocha Canada’s beautiful Brooksdale Environmental Centre in Surrey, BC.
We will virtually “visit” our long-term global partners Pete & Emily Johnson (Directors of Rancho El Camino). They will share how God has been transforming the lives of inner city families and youth in La Paz, Mexico, and what they have been learning from Jesus and from their Mexican friends and neighbours about the spiritual practice of hospitality.
Pete & Emily will also guide us through passages in Scripture, where we learn how hospitality can be a mutually transformative experience for both the host and the guest.
During the day, enjoy a fresh, farm-to-table lunch provided by A Rocha. After all, what is hospitality without food?! In addition, everyone will have the opportunity to care for creation by gardening and stewarding the land at A Rocha’s Brooksdale farm.
Our rough itinerary for the day is:
Just 1 Day costs $120 per person; it is $100 per person for registrations of 2 or more. We encourage you to bring a friend with you to experience this journey together! Email Hannah for the discount code. Proceeds will go directly to our global partners and Tenth's local service projects.
